Souls seem better spent on items that allow for farming sprees rather than equipment.

You can buy an exp potion that doubles your exp for 24 hours, allowing you to level faster, for 50 souls. Or you could buy 24 hours of unlimited stamina, for 50 souls, which would allow you to farm a great deal more. Usually best done on the boss level of any stage, more items seem to drop. The auto replay feature works well here. You could also but both and farm exp and items at the same time. Buying items from the store seems to have little payoff. Farming levels will give you more of what you need/want. Good luck.
